Florida Home Sweet Home

Arrive at Lily Lake in Florida on Sunday afternoon. Beau, Thomas, & Billy where there to greet me. Oh yea, and a big hug from lil Brooke made me feel right at home. Since i left back on July 14th, Cowpen lakes' water level is up about 12" . So the cub is back in the pole barn for now. For the next few weeks i will be adding up all the hours, fuel, miles flown and will be adding photos and videos to previous postings. please go back in a few weeks or so and check it out.

Kentucky Green River

Flying from West Virgina to Kentucky i had to stop at Cave Run Lake to transfer fuel. This was a beautiful spot. Here are some photos of the lake. I have been in Kentucky all week and have been helping my Dad around Kramer's "Rusty Nail Farm" this place is really neat. we found a old De Soto car out in the woods. we hope to have a garden and some horses or live stock in next year. Terry and PJ at the Marina here on Green River Lake made me feel right at home. I cant wait to come visit next summer. I plan to be back in Florida this Sunday if all goes well.

Ohio Bieber Seaplane Base

Ohio is a tough state for seaplane activity. After lots of research i found a small man made lake in North Lima Ohio. Bill Bieber has a neat private seaplane base complete with banquet hall and soon to come restaurant right on his property. Bill and his father where a great help. without this fuel stop this route west of the ridge would not have been possible. From here its south to the West Virgina border on the Ohio River. This was a clear and cold day...with a great tailwind for a change. Buddy from Ravenswood WV met me on the city dock with fuel. after giving his son a ride in the cub i was in the air again and heading for Kentucky before it gets dark.

NY Finger Lakes

While I was exploring the Adirondack I ran across this nice man from Florida. As it turns out he spends his winters in Keystone Heights on lake Santa Fe. Doug Clark also has a lake place on Lake Skaneateles in New York. He invited me to fly in and help me get fuel from the local airport so i could make it to Ohio the next day. We also had a Great diner at a local restaurant called DOUG'S FISH FRY. Doug is retired now but still has chain restaurants to keep him busy. I have to say that was some good eatin. I plan to give him a ride in the cub this winter....... thanks Doug.

Northern Lights Airpark- Lake Champlain, Vermont

Flying NW out of the Adirondack was clear, cold and bumpy. I have one more stop north before i head for home. Northern Lights is a neat little grass airstrip and seaplane base on the north end of lake Champlain. I got to say hello to Jason and thanked him for helpful information that he gave me on planning this trip (see blog entree at the start). This little grass strip has more flying activity on it than most paved AP in Fl. Thanks to Scott and Tim from Scootair for the fuel, crash pad, and a neat place to hang out ( http://www.scootair.org/). Thanks also to Cindy from Heros Aviation for being so nice and giving me Doug's car to use. http://www.herosaviation.com/ is the place to come for airplane fabric and Poly Fiber coatings.
Storms came through last night and gusty headwinds today....so i plan to head out Friday am for the finger lakes NY and hopefully into OH before dark. then its on to WV and KY by Saturday.

Adirondack Mtn's NY

Three days in the Adirondacks was awesome. Camping was great but each nite the temps dropped colder and COLDER so this ole Florida flew out this am. I also spent time at Helm's Flying Service. Tom runs the seaplane base here on Long Lake in NY Adirondack's. They have 2 Cessna 206's on floats. They where great letting me use the pick -up to get around and stuff. Thanks Tom. From here i will fly north to Alburg VT.

New Hampshire

Well the past few days its been low clouds and rain. I flew back into Lake Winnipesaukee and have enjoyed the comforts of Carol's place in Laconia. I hope to maybe play some golf and go hiking again before i leave. I have met some neat people that live here that have been following the blog. I gave a ride to Kevin yesterday after the clouds broke and man was it beautiful. I wish i had my camera but that time i didn't. The weather is clearing up and getting COLD. I am excited my next stops from here are in Vermont, Lake Champlain /New York, Adirondack Mtns. I hope the weather cooperates. From there my flight plan still has some big holes in it. I want to head southwest from there and fly down the west side of the ridge to Kentucky, but the fuel stops thru here are really tough to plan. a lot of the lakes in OH, PA, are closed to seaplane traffic. I am still working on it, but this leg has been a pain.
