Fuel update

I was planing to leave this week, but lately I have been getting some feed back on the damaging effect of ethanol in auto fuel. Most of the fuel stops on the way to Maine only could include car gas. As the ethanol evaporates it takes the octane out of the fuel and then absorbs water. i did notice this past weekend a loss of performance running this fuel. Johnny my A&E mechanic says running this unleaded auto fuel with ethanol for extended time could burn the valves and damage my newly rebuilt engine. So now its back to flight planning and researching new stops that would have av gas (100LL). This is proving to be difficult.
